Visiting restricted at Regional children’s unit

VISITING restrictions have been put in place at the Paediatric Unit in the Midwest Regional Hospital due to an outbreak of gastroenteritis.
The restrictions state that each inpatient can have one visitor or parent/guardian only as arranged with the nursing staff on the unit,
Children attending outpatients or the day ward should be accompanied by one adult and no children will be allowed to visit the unit until further notice.
The public are requested to co-operate fully with the advice and instructions of staff.
“All appropriate infection control measures are being taken to deal with this situation. These visiting restrictions will remain in place until the situation has been resolved,” a spokesman for the hospital said.
