The Riptide Movement let rip this Friday

THE second album from Dublin’s The Riptide Movement debuted at No. 6 in the Irish Indie charts on its release. A remarkable result for an unsigned, self-managed, self-produced, self-distributed and self-published outfit. ‘Keep On, Keepin’ On’, was written on a five week stint in France. It is a wonderful collection of prog-rock, swamp blues that demands repeated listening creating an updated take on the Creedence Clearwater Revival  / Canned Heat vintage sound.

When Limerick Post asked singer with the band, Mal Tuohy about his influences he listed the aforementioned bands Canned Heat and CCR and dropped Bob Dylan, Rory Gallagher and The Band into the melting pot as well. The Riptide Movement are a group of hard working musicians and a fine example of today’s DIY ethos in controlling how your music meets its audience. Mal is happy to pass on these nuggets of advice from his experience in The Riptide Movement, “Start with an EP of 4 to 6 tracks, and put it out there so people can hear it and get to know it, work hard on the live scene and build up a good fan base and then when it feels right to put out your album, release it and people will buy it.”
The band come to Limerick with a reputation for a great live show and to celebrate the release of ‘Keep On, Keepin’ On’. The Riptide Movement will play Dolan’s this Friday May 25.
