Limerick FC take on Longford Town

-

LIMERICK FC face a must win game this week as they travel to Flancare Park to take on table toppers Longford Town on Saturday night. Longford, currently four points clear of Limerick FC at the summit of the First Division, have already beaten Limerick this season back in April.

Pat Scully’s side will travel to Longford knowing that a loss would be a massive body blow to their title aspirations.
Preparations for this weekends game for both sides were quiet similar. Limerick lost 1-0 to Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Ford Cup, while Longford lost 2-0 to Cherry Orchard in the same competition. That Longford loss shows just how much the league means to the Flancare Park residents.
“We played really well last Friday in the Cup against Shamrock Rovers, the young players did the club proud, but the loss of so many players to injury and suspension came against us and one mistake cost us in the end. We are back in league action this weekend and Saturdays game away to Longford is a top of the table clash and I know if we apply ourselves as we did against Rovers, we will get the right result,” commented Limerick manager Pat Scully this week.
With Dom Foley, Cian Collins, Gary Sheahen and Derek O’Brien all on the injured list, Scully will have his work cut out to stay in touch with the lead.
In some good news, Denis Behan is expected to return to the Limerick side having been suspended for the Cup game against Shamrock Rovers.
For those wishing to travel on Saturday night, Limerick FC Official Supporters’ Club Bus to Longford Town, Saturday June 2nd leaves Dunnes Stores – Henry St at 3.30pm.

Limerick’s next home league game is on June 22nd against Wexford Youths.
