Masterchefs Hospitality, Ireland’s leading event catering company, has secured the top contract as the main Caterer to the Global Village, located in South Park, when the Volvo Ocean Race arrives in Galway next month. The Global Village is a 17 acre business expo with conferences, seminars, exhibition space and networking hubs in an atmosphere of sporting, lifestyle, cultural and entertainment events.

Pat O’Sullivan, MD of Masterchefs & his team will work with the Food Pillar team to service and deliver an outstanding culinary experience in The Claddagh Restaurant serving food all day; the restaurant is located in the Food Pavilion. In addition the Masterchefs team will manage all the food operations for the Global Arena and the Global Village Executive Club.

Micheline McNamara, Managing Director of Let’s Do it Global/Galway is delighted with the end result. ‘Masterchefs are a highly skilled professional organisation. We know Pat O’Sullivan and his team of talented professionals will bring outstanding dining experiences to both the Food Pavilion and the entire Global Arena. Masterchefs have a reputation for ensuring food quality and food provenance are included at all stages of planning and delivery and we are certainly very excited to see what gastronomic experiences they create for the many expected visitors to Galway”.

Pat O’ Sullivan, MD Masterchefs “We are very honoured to be chosen as Catering & Hospitality Partners to the Volvo Ocean Race given the level of competition for such a large & prestigious Global Event. Masterchefs philosophy of supporting local food producers & employing local staff, combined with our renowned culinary reputation gives us the cutting edge. The 9 day event presents a massive challenge & our team are enthused at the prospect as it will certainly be the largest taking place in Ireland this year. This puts our company in the Global spotlight which is where we want to be”.

Building on the success of the 2009 event, the promoters have developed the ‘Global Village’ in addition to ‘Race Village’. The key objective of the Global Village is to create an environment conducive to connecting Irish businesses to the global market and in doing so create a legacy of ongoing business relations long after the Volvo Ocean Race is over.

The Global Village has been created to utilise the platform of the media coverage which in the last race achieved for the Volvo Ocean Race a 1.3 Billion television audience, 1.6 billion print audience and 1.1 billion on line audience to convey the messages under the categories of Ireland’s leading components, Innovation, Food, Green and Marine.
