Record for business aviation jets at Shannon

A RECORD number of Business Aviation jets landed in Shannon in June, proving that the sector can be area of growth at the airport, according to Director, Mary Considine. A total of 460 ‘Business Aviation jet movements’ took place at Shannon in June, the largest number of movements in and out of the airport ever in a single month and a 26% increase on the figure of 367 recorded for the corresponding month last year. “The increase is very welcome as all gains in the aviation industry are hard to make right now”, said Ms Considine.

“While terminal traffic remains our priority area, we have been putting increased focus on business aviation at Shannon over recent years, as it is a potential growth area.
“This is of benefit not only to Shannon but the entire region, as it exposes us to some of the world’s leading high-net worth individuals and corporations, which can only be good”.
She said that there is particular growth across the Middle-East and US markets as Shannon is a ‘crossroads’ between the two regions.
“We also had the announcement at our recent aviation convention that Quintessentially Aviation is to develop its first Irish VIP lounge at Shannon Airport which will link us in with the world’s most exclusive private/corporate jet airport, Al Bateen Airport in Abu Dhabi, Where Quintessentially are developing a flagship lounge also” Ms Considine continued.
