THE return of the two long granite seats that were previously located on Bedford Row was sought at the April monthly Metropolitan District meeting of the Council.
Social Democrats councillor Shane Hickey-O’Mara asked about the status and current location of the seats and that these public amenities be returned to their original location.
In response, the Council said that over the years this street furniture has been damaged: “One of the benches was removed and installed in the People’s Park a few years ago.
The other bench was removed by the Roads Section as was badly damaged and couldn’t be repaired.

We will review seating arrangements in the city during 2026.”
