Fashion for the little fashionista

GETTING little girls out of their favourite flowery summer dress that reminds them of their holidays or favourite parties, well, it can be difficult. Limerick Post understands that some kids just want to be  pretty in pink, and some want to wear the same favourite clothes every day, stubbornly. Hopefully with these tips they will be dying to update their wardrobe for the upcoming rain and cold:

  • Lots of colour. That’s what your daughter should be rocking this winter. It doesn’t have to be a gaudy luminous pink but perhaps a baby shade or metallic to get them away from the subdued, depressing colours of winter and school uniforms.
  • Embellishments, adornment and complicated finishes such as pleating and etches really bring an outfit to life. Brocade fabrics are everywhere on catwalks.
  • Knitwear is back again so add a long knitted cardigan or a nice knitted hat to get them in that festive mood. Plus, it’s warm.
  • Tap and ballet style shoes are essential this season. Colours such as silver, gold and coloured glitter prevail so choose these for your party and Christmas shows.
  • Patterns are bold and graphic. Gone are the frilly pictures of roses and cabbages and in are the alternative, graphic pictures that give the look a futuristic feel. Animal print works as well.
  • Shapes are important with tulip and bubble shaped skirts and dresses making an appearance. There is a real ’60s feel to the pieces with some simple shift shapes and capes becoming popular. Remember that the ‘ovoid’ shape is cutting it in women’s outerwear.
