Limerick clubs fly flag in Munster Championship

-

LIMERICK GAA clubs will once more fly the green and white flag this weekend in the Munster interprovincial championships. First up will be Limerick Intermediate champions Ballybrown who will face Ballyduff from Kerry in the semi final. Throw in on Saturday 10 in Kilmallock is at 2pm.

Ballybrown qualified for the semi finals with a 3-10 to 2-7 win over Ballinhassig of Cork in a replay last weekend. The winners of this weekend’s tie will face Silvermines of Tipperary in the final on November 18. The ‘Mines’ beat An Rinn of Waterford to advance to the showpiece.
At the same time in Feenagh, on Saturday, St Kierans of Limerick will take on Kilsheelan-Kilcash (say that 10 times) of Tipperary in the Junior Hurling Club championship quarter final. The winners of that tie will go on to play Kenmare Shamrocks on November 18 at a Kerry or Tipperary venue. St Kieran’s will be looking to repeat Blackrock’s achievement of winning the Munster title back in 2009.
The final game involving a Limerick club is the meeting of Pallasgreen and Finuge of Kerry in the semi final of the Intermediate football championship. The game throws in at 2pm in Bruff on Sunday.  Finuge, sporting some star names such as Eamonn Fitzmaurice and Paul Galvin will be strong favourites for this clash, but with home county advantage and with a game under their belts, Pallasgreen will be no pushovers.
That game preparation came against Ballinameela of Waterford last weekend. The ‘Deise’ side were defeated 2-8 to 2-7. With a replay county final win under their belts, Pallasgreen will be more than ready for the huge Kerry challenge that awaits them.
With Kilmallock and Drom/ Broadford out of the senior hurling and senior football championships respectively, Limerick inter county managers John Allen and Maurice Horan will be looking to this weekend’s action to see if there are any future inter county stars on show. With this many Limerick GAA teams featuring in the later stages, 2013 season looks promising for Limerick.
