Free blood pressure checks in Limerick

hypertensionA LEADING general practitioner is strongly recommending people in Limerick to avail of a free blood pressure check in the city this week.

The Irish Heart Foundation is running a free blood pressure check roadshow across the country this week and it will be at the Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle on Wednesday May 15 from 10am to 2pm.

Dr Liam Glynn was speaking ahead of World Hypertenstion Day on Friday May 17 and he urges people to get their blood pressure checked this week.

He says: “The whole point of the campaign is to give people the opportunity to go for a free blood pressure check and we strongly urge people to make the most of the  opportunity.

“I would say that to people who have high blood pressure, as well as those who don’t. It is very treatable and once a person is treated for hypertension, that risk is removed. It is a major public health issue and we need to address it.
