Scottish siblings Rachael and Paul Swinton arrive on the back of their most ambitious album to date
SCOTTISHÂ duo Cloth will perform at Dolans this Saturday May 9 presented by Seoda Shows.
The band — siblings Rachael and Paul Swinton — arrive with the April 2025 release of their third album Pink Silence, a record that marks a significant new chapter in their quietly extraordinary career.
Produced by Ali Chant, whose credits include Perfume Genius, PJ Harvey and Yard Act, Pink Silence follows the duo’s 2024 single Polaroid and their critically acclaimed 2023 album Secret Measure, which earned a Scottish Album of the Year Award nomination on the Rock Action label.
The hallmarks of the Cloth sound — feather-light arrangements, intrinsic quiet drama and a patient willingness to let space do the talking — remain firmly intact on the new record. What has shifted is the scale of their ambition.
With Chant at the helm and a cast of collaborators that includes Portishead’s Adrian Utley, Owen Pallett and Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, the pair’s exemplary guitar interplay is now adorned with synth flourishes, undulating drone textures and soaring strings.
Songs unfold and bloom across the record, becoming rich, complex and deeply emotional.
Pink Silence represents the pop streak Cloth have long threatened to bring to the fore, delivered with the restraint and intentionality that has always defined them — elevated here to striking new heights.
Cloth play Dolans this Saturday May 9Â followed by a free-in After Show Party djing alternative and classics on Dolans Terrace.
