Liverpool FC to play Celtic in Dublin Decider

Dublin Decider Press ConferenceOn Saturday, 10th August, 2013, two of the biggest names in world football will come to Dublin, as Liverpool FC and Glasgow Celtic FC take each other on in the inaugural “Dublin Decider”. This will be the first time since 1998 that the Liverpool 1st XI will play in Ireland, while Celtic are returning to the Aviva Stadium having played there in 2011 in the Dublin Super Cup.

Both clubs have committed to bringing full, first-team squads, and this match will form a vital part of their pre-season preparations.

The match will be shown live in Irish, UK and international markets.  Kick-off will be at 17.30. The early kick-off time is to accommodate families and those attending with young children.

Tickets are priced at €10 for children and from €25 for general admission to €55 for premium level tickets.  Both clubs will have substantial allocations for their travelling fans.  A further ticket sales announcement will be forthcoming.

The Dublin Decider is supported by tourism initiative, The Gathering.  Substantial numbers are expected to attend from the UK, with travelling fan support, as well as those taking the opportunity to visit friends and relatives in the year of the Gathering.  Both clubs have substantial followings amongst the Irish diaspora and traditionally have very strong followings amongst the Irish at home and overseas.

Speaking today, Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring said: “This is going to be a fantastic Gathering event, and I’m excited about it already. It’s not every day that you can welcome two famous clubs from overseas with such strong Irish connections. I want to thank the FAI and both clubs for organising this game, and I look forward to greeting the fans when they come to Ireland.”
