LEGENDARY Scottish singer-songwriter Donovan will perform at the People’s Museum of Limerick on Friday May 15, 2026, with doors opening at 8:00pm. Tickets are available through Eventbrite.

The concert forms part of an intimate touring series the artist has titled The Tale of the Gael, marking his 80th year with small, personal shows across Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. Donovan has described the tour as a wish to present his journey “up front” to the Celtic audiences who have long embraced his work, and has invited fans to explore a free film essay of the same name on his website, donovan.ie.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential songwriters and recording artists, Donovan burst onto the scene with his debut single Catch the Wind in 1965, finding immediate recognition among Irish, Scottish and Welsh audiences who responded to his strong Gaelic roots. His concerts are as much storytelling as performance, weaving remarkable accounts of his influence on some of the great artists of the modern era, among them The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush and Oasis — many of whom became personal friends.

At his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, it was noted that Donovan singlehandedly initiated the psychedelic revolution with his album Sunshine Superman. Decades on, each new generation of artists continues to draw on his catalogue as a touchstone for their own musical path.
