Limerick’s Mc Carthy named player of the month

GAA / GPA Player of the Month Awards, sponsored by Opel, for JuneThe GAA/GPA All-Stars sponsored by Opel today announced that  Limerick’s Richie McCarthy as the Player of the Month for June in hurling.

Richie McCarthy delivered a man-of-the-match display for Limerick in their stunning victory last month over Tipperary to book a place in the Munster hurling final against Cork. The dynamic full-back was pivotal in overcoming the favourites that day and he will line out in his first senior provincial decider against the Rebels next Sunday.

GAA Commenting on the announcement, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Liam Ó Néill said “Our championships have really caught fire in the last number of weeks thanks to some memorable team performances and a number of stand-out results. However, there have also been displays of individual excellence, not least from Richie and Graham in their respective assignments, contributions that leave them both vying for provincial honours.

“I congratulate Richie and wish him every success both in his weekend assignments, but also for the remainder of their respective campaigns.”
