OVER €50,000 worth of cannabis was seized at Shannon Airport last week when Ollie, a Revenue and Customs sniffer dog gave a positive indication of the presence of the drugs in a consignment of freight from Spain last Tuesday.
Investigations are ongoing in the matter and an Garda Siochana together with officers from the Revenue and Customs are following a number of lines of inquiry.
The find comes just weeks after Ollie uncovered over €300,000 worth of cannabis in a freight consignment.
In other operations, customs officers seized 17,800 “Winston” cigarettes at Dublin Airport with a retail value of €8,500 from a Moldovan national who arrived in on a flight from Moscow earlier this week. He was arrested, charged and remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.
