Duke Special sings ‘1969’ by Limerick hitmaker Aaron Hackett

DukeSpecialBELFAST singer Duke Special is currently at No. 19 on the download charts with his version of ‘1969’ by Limerick songwriter Aaron Hackett. On last Friday’s episode of The Hit on RTÉ, Duke chose to record and release the 16 year old’s track. It now has to achieve a higher chart placing by midnight tonight (Thursday 15) than rival song ‘Prayin’ by Johnny Logan for Duke and Aaron  to remain in the competition with a first prize €20,000.

Of the song, Aaron says ” this song is about teenage love in the 1960s in the USA – hanging out in diners, playing pool, sneaking out after hours and being ‘bad kids in the dark’. In order to get through to the orchestra finale on August 30, Duke’s song must be higher in the charts than the song he was up against in the show – ‘Prayin’ by Johnny Logan.

At time of writing, Johnny Logan is at number 17 and Duke is at number 19!
