Hermitage Green’s debut album is at Number One

DESPITE some initial delays last week the new album from Limerick’s Hermitage Green is at number one in the iTunes charts at time of writing and well on its way to being an official Number One hit. The CD version is available in record shops across the country.

Hermitage Green played two sold out shows in Dublin’s Whelan’s last October that were recorded for the new album ‘Hermitage Green – Live At Whelan’s’. Under the watchful eye of producer Joe Chester who has worked with Ryan Sheridan, Gemma Hayes and The Coronas, Hermitage Green have now just released the 12 track album of the band’s most popular original material along with an acapella version of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrops’.

The decision to go with a live recording for Hermitage Green’s debut LP was a natural one according to HG’s singer/ guitarist Dan Murphy.

“It was a natural a thing to do, we have played 500 gigs across five continents in our two years together. We wanted to bottle and capture all the things we love about our gigs, the mistakes, the craic, everything you would see at a gig.”

Choosing Whelan’s in Dublin to record is down to the intimacy of the venue, its 400 capacity and fantastic room sound that make it an ideal space in which to record. The band worked very hard with producer Joe Chester on pre-production, getting the band’s set incredibly tight so when it came to the gigs, it would Hermitage Green at their best.

“We were pretty solid, saying that there are mistakes and f*ck-ups but that is what makes a live gig,” laughs the singer.

The release of the album on iTunes had been delayed due to “a backlog in the iTunes upload”, according to the band’s facebook site. Dan commented to Limerick Post that the distribution problems were, “issues that were out of our control.”

The band stated on their facebook site, “If you want something done right you should just do it yourself .. Once again we’ve been humbled by people’s support.”

The CD is now available in HMV Limerick in Crescent SC. It is also available in Dublin at various Golden Discs and HMV Music Stores and Tower Records and Celtic Note, In Cork at Golden Discs and Green Note and in Galway at OMG and Zhivago Records.

For downloading, the new album is available on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk
