McMahon sets new course record at Limerick

DEAN McMahon (Castletroy) won the inaugural Bon Secours Hosptial sponsored 36-hole Senior Scratch Cup at pristine Limerick Golf Club.

He tied with clubmate Andrew McCormack but won on the first play-off hole.

In his second round, McMahon shot a course record six-under par 66.

In joint third place were John Kavanagh (Castletroy) and Luke McCan, Killarney.

The winner was presented with the Limerick Scratch Cup – 1976 Memorial Trophy, marking the 50th anniversary of the Limerick Team that famously won the double of the All-Ireland Senior Cup and the Barton Shield.

Sponsored by Leonard Motors, Adam Toth (Ballyneety) and Con McGee won the Junior and Intermediate Scratch Cups, respectively.
