Woman arrested in Limerick murder investigation

GARDAI in Limerick investigating the murder of Paddy Redmond at an apartment on the Dock Road on November 10 last have arrested a female in her 40s this afternoon in connection with the investigation.

She is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be held for a period of 24 hours.

65 year old Paddy Redmond suffered a single stab wound at a neighbours apartment on the first floor of the Mount Kennett complex.

Gardai from Henry Street were called to the scene and paramedics battled to save his life.

He was taken to University Hospital Limerick but died a short time later.

Mr Redmond had been living at a number of addresses in Limerick in the last number of years but moved to the Dock Road complex over 12 months before his murder.

Originally from Dublin, Mr Redmond moved to Limerick some years ago and is survived by his three grown up daughters and estranged wife.

Supt Daniel Keane said “We are appealing for anyone who might have any sort of information about this crime to come forward in confidence and speak to us in Henry Street Garda station.”

The investigation is ongoing.
