Off duty Gardai accused of street fight involvement

THREE Dublin based Garda who became involved in a street brawl in Limerick city are to be investigated by the office of the Garda Ombudsman, the Limerick post has learned.
The incident involving the three off duty Gardai is alleged to have occurred on Friday night last when the trio are alleged to have become involved in a fight on Catherine Street shortly after 10pm.
Henry Street Gardai attended the scene and restored order a few moments later after the three men had been socialising in the city.
Allegations lay against the three for becoming involved in a fight with two others on the street.
Medical treatment was required for two of the off duty Gardai but not arrests were made.
Friday’s incident is under investigation by Gardai at Henry street and the Garda Ombudsman has been informed and will be looking into the matter.
