NYE events in Limerick

WITH all systems go and the switch about to be thrown on what could be a great year for Limerick, here’s a preview rundown of what will kick off Limerick’s year as City of Culture.

NYE PAGEANT
The procession begins at The Milk Market and will leave at 5.45pm.
This family friendly participative parade will take in routes via Robert Street, Denmark Street, Honan’s Quay, Patrick’s Street, Bridge Street, Georges Quay, Mary’s Street and Nicholas Street, finishing in the Medieval Quarter outside King John’s Castle.

NYE SKY EVENT
Starts 8pm – 8.30pm.
The skies of Limerick will dazzle with a free, spectacular firework and lighting show, accompanied by a spectacular musical composition in the Medieval Quarter. It can be viewed from Clancy Strand, Sarsfield Bridge and Thomond Bridge and will also be broadcast on Limerick’s Live 95fm starting from 7.30pm live.

NYE MUSIC EVENT
Starts 8.30pm – 1am.
Merchant’s Quay, down by City Hall.
Limerick will ring in the New Year with an impressive line-up that includes The Strypes, The Coronas, Cranberries star Dolores O’Riordan accompanied by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, Maverick Sabre, SOAK and local musical heroes Leading Armies.
Gates open for ticketed venue from 8.30pm, closing at 10.30pm.
