Casino winner is rammed off road by thieves

GARDAI in Limerick are questioning three people over the alleged assault and robbery of a man who emerged from a casino having won a substantial amount of money.

The man, in his 30s emerged from the casino in the city and was driving home towards Dooradoyle shortly after 1:30am when his car was rammed, the culprits assaulted him and subsequently robbed him in the eariy hours of Wednesday morning.

Detectives led an investigation which was launched once the male victim sought assistance from the emergency services immediately after the ramming and two men and two women were arrested in a follow up operation. All are aged in the 20s and 30s.

The victims injuries were not life threatening.

One woman was released without charge but the the two men are still being questioned in Roxboro Garda station while the second woman is assisting Gardai in Henry St.

A file is being prepared for the director of public prosecutions.
