Limerick Circuit Court heard that when Gardai responded to reports of a burglary at a house at May Path, Dooradoyle on November 23, 2012, they found the rear patio door smashed and the home was ransacked.

When Garda Cotter tried to apprehend Nicholas Markham after he was found hiding in an upstairs bedroom, he “lashed out” and had to be pepper sprayed.

While in custody, he admitted carrying out several other burglaries.

Over a year ago, Limerick Circuit Court was told that Markham carried out three other burglaries while on bail.

A two year suspended sentence was activated by Judge Carroll Moran in respect of a 2011 robbery offence while a one year prison sentence was imposed for the burglary where he was caught in the wardrobe.

Markham was also given a two year suspended for the other burglary offences committed.
