Limerick passengers to get budget parking at Shannon

shannon airportPASSENGERS using Shannon airport will shortly have an option of cheaper parking as the airport is opening a new car-park a short distance from the existing ones.

Airport Authority CEO, Neil Pakey revealed the plan to offer budget parking at a Shannon Chamber breakfast briefing on Wednesday morning.

โ€œTaking a leaf out of Ryanairโ€™s book, we will be offering a โ€˜park for lessโ€™ option not far from the airport shortly,โ€ Mr Pakey said.

Asked whether Ryanair has plans for further routes from Shannon, the airlineโ€™s deputy chief executive Michael Cawley said it was premature to talk about extra services when the airline had so recently introduced a huge number of routes.

However, he added that the โ€œenvironment for growing routes is positiveโ€.

And while chief executive Michael Oโ€™Leary was predicting transatlantic fares as low as โ‚ฌ10 when Ryanair enters the transatlantic market, Mr Cawley told the Airport Authority โ€œTransatlantic is all very well .. but the focus on Europe should be sharper. It is the area of growthโ€.
