GARDAI have arrested a man in his 50’s in connection with their investigation into the suspicious death of a pensioner over four years ago in County Limerick.

James Mulqueen was found dead in his home in Ballymakery, Kilcolman, County Limerick on the morning of October 23, 2009.

It was initially thought that the pensioner died as a result of natural causes but after investigations and a postmortem was carried out on the pensioner’s remains, his death was upgraded to suspicious and the investigation continued.

It had always been stressed that the case was never closed and this Thursday afternoon, Gardai in Newcastle West, arrested a male in his 50s and are detaining him under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Henry Street Garda Station for questioning.
