The Connolly Menswear sponsored 2014 Winter League Final was played on Sunday last, March 23rd. Congratulations to Team R who returned an impressive 135 points to win the competition on the day. The winning team members were Ger McGrath, Danny Halpin, Eamon McGrath, Thomas Carroll & Finola O’Donnell. In 2nd place we had Team K, led by Matthew Evan, 3rd place went to Team A led by Pat Fogarty and in 4th place were Team S led by Liam Hannon. Ballykisteen Golf Club
On Sunday last we held the final of our Spring League with 8 teams participating. The competition was the same format but over the full 18 holes and the team that held their nerve and won out on a score of 99Pts was Team C of Joe MacDonald, Denis O’Brien, Paudie Ryan and James Keane. They have the bragging rights for the next 12 months as Spring League Champions. In Second Place with 98Pts was Team L of Frankie Nolan, Liam Downey, John Ryan and Pat Ryan. In Third Place on Countback with a score of 96Pts was Team M of Alan Dunphy, Tom Crosse, Arthur Pierse and Kevin O’Hora. We would like to thank Dave Kavanagh, DOE Test Centre, Tipperary, for his kind Sponsorship of the Spring League. The committee would also like to thank all the members who supported this year’s Spring League and made it a great success. Winners of the 13 hole Scramble were Pat Irwin, Maurice Irwin, Larry Kelly and Bernard Kavanagh.
Further reminder to members that names are now being taken in the pro shop for the upcoming singles and doubles Matchplay Competitions. Members can pick their own partner for the doubles and entry fee is €10 for each Competition. Both these competitions are very prestigious events in the club calendar with the singles being one of the highest ranking qualifiers in the Golfer of the Year competition and the 4 ball being the ideal way for new members to get to know their fellow members. Next weekend we will have a Club Singles Competition. The first Medal of the year to put into your calendar is the April monthly Medal sponsored by Pat Toomey, The Hideout Bar, Monard which will take place from Fri 4th to Sun 6th of April.
