The Birdhill Coffee Festival returns June 26th-28th with hands-on masterclasses, espresso machine experts, coffee cocktails and artisan food experiences
Birdhill, Co. Tipperary:  Many home baristas share the same frustration – despite investing in expensive machines, premium beans and the latest gadgets, their coffee never seems to taste quite as good as the one served in their favourite cafĂ©. This June, Ireland’s only destination coffee festival is aiming to change that.
Hosted by The Old Barracks Coffee Roastery, the festival has grown into one of Ireland’s most unique lifestyle events, attracting coffee enthusiasts, food lovers and curious consumers from across the country. While Friday, June 26th, will host trade-focused sessions for aspiring cafĂ© owners, the core of the festival on Saturday and Sunday is dedicated entirely to the coffee-curious consumer.
Designed for people who brew at home—whether you use a French press, a pod machine, or a high-end home espresso setup—this three-day event is built to help you master your morning ritual and it promises a coffee-fuelled lineup of exhibitors, interactive workshops, live barista competitions, guest speakers, educational masterclasses, brewing demos and exclusive tastings of the best coffees in Ireland.
And yes — visitors can win incredible coffee prizes every single day including a Sage Barista Touch Impress (worth €1,500) and other prizes worth up to €500 including a year’s supply of coffee through the Old Barracks Coffee Roastery signature subscription service.
“Our goal is to remove the mystery behind great coffee,” says Alan Andrews, Founder of The Old Barracks Coffee Roastery and Birdhill Coffee Festival. “People are spending more money than ever on coffee machines and equipment at home, but most still aren’t getting the results they want. This festival is about changing that. If you make coffee at home — this weekend is for you. We want people to leave feeling confident, inspired and genuinely excited about making incredible coffee every single day, not just when they visit their favourite café.”
So, what’s on…?
- Brew Like a Barista with La Marzocco and Sage – Coffee lovers will have the opportunity to get hands-on with some of the world’s most sought-after home espresso machines. Experts from La Marzocco Home and Sage will demonstrate how visitors can achieve professional-level coffee from their own kitchens.
- Pourfection: Latte Art Masterclasses – Hosted by the training specialists at Coffee Laboratory, these interactive sessions will teach visitors how to texture milk correctly, pour latte art and develop cafĂ©-standard barista skills.
- From Green Bean to Great Coffee – Visitors can watch live roasting demonstrations, discover how green beans are transformed into specialty coffee and sample coffees from Ireland and beyond.
- The Monin Summer Drinks Bar – where visitors can learn some refreshing summer drink ideas that pair the best of coffee and flavours.
- Meet the Makers – The festival will feature artisan food producers, bakers, jam makers, specialty brands and independent creators showcasing some of the best local food and drink products in Ireland.
