The discovery was made as search teams were operating in the area.
The remains have been taken from the water and renoved to the Iniversity Hospital Limerick for a postmortem examination and formal identification.
Last Friday, search teams operating in the Killaloe area discovered the body of a male near the dam.
They had been searching for a male that had been seen entering the water over two weeks ago.
