Limerick city obstacle course to break down barriers

2-9-2014 obstacle courseHAVE you ever wanted to climb over a car in the middle of Limerick city purely for the thrill of it? This Sunday September 14 you can do just that as the Limerick City Obstacle Course comes to town.

This 7km military-style obstacle course is special in that it takes place in an urban setting and event manager Dave Ryan has been eagerly counting down the days in the build-up to this weekend.

“There’s a mixture of military and urban-style obstacles in it so you’ll have a mixture of climbing over cars, in through the back of artic trailers and military-style crawling under nets. Starting and finishing at Howley’s Quay, we’re going in through the courtyard of King John’s Castle as well and they’re opening the old doors of the castle so we’ll be going down the steps there.”

If it seems like an army-style boot camp, Dave assured people that, on the contrary, it is intended as a fun event which people can take at their own pace. On the back of last weekend’s Grandmother Giant success, he hopes that people will make a swift return visit to Limerick city.

“We hope to get a run-off from the buzz that was going on with the Grandmother Giant, especially with the good weather that’s been out and the family buzz around town. I think people who hadn’t been in the city came in that weekend and saw it in a different light.
