AN appeal of the decision by the local authority to deny the go ahead of the €100m Horizon Mall plans has been lodged by Belfast developer Suneil Sharma.

Last month, Limerick City and County Council refused the developer’s plans and it has now emerged that Mr Sharma is seeking a review of that decision by An Bord Pleanala.

The revised plans for Horizon Mall on the Parkway Valley site on the Dublin Road included a larger Marks and Spencer outlet and increased parking.

60 city centre businesses voiced their objections to the plan saying it’s impact would be devastating to the city centre.

An Bord Pleanala confirmed that an appeal has been lodged and a decision is due by January 29, 2015.
