GARRYOWEN, one of the oldest clubs in the country (founded 1884), has announced the formation of its first adult women’s team.

The side will compete in Division Two of the All-Ireland League.

This exciting development represents a major step forward for inclusivity and the growth of the game in Limerick and beyond.

Known for its rich rugby tradition, Garryowen is now opening its doors to a new generation of female athletes, providing opportunities for women of all backgrounds and experience levels to get involved in rugby.

It will have a strong focus on player development, teamwork, and fostering a positive, welcoming environment.

The initiative reflects the club’s commitment to expanding participation in rugby and supporting the continued rise of the women’s game in Ireland.

Club president David Geoghegan expressed his enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting the importance of creating pathways for women and girls to engage with the sport.
