KATHERINE Hunka will lead the Irish Chamber Orchestra in a ‘Joyeux Noel’ concert taking place in St Mary’s Cathedral on Friday December 12 at 8pm. Ailish Tynan, soprano (pictured) is on stage as are cellist Rudi de Groote and Cliona Doris, harpist for a varied, upbeat programme. ‘Silent Night’, ‘Adeste Fidelisi’ and gorgeous music from Saint-Saens: ‘The Swan’ from Carnival of the Animals and ‘Le Deluge’ Op 45, Prelude, are on the slate.
This Christmassy night, supported by Limerick City of Culture, will also include composition by Mahler, Britten, Debussy, Francaix, Martinet and Wade.
