A NEW judge to preside over cases has been permanently appointed to Limerick District Court.

Cork native Judge Marian O’Leary has been assigned to sit in the Limerick District following the elevation of Judge Eugene O’Kelly to the Circuit Court at the end of last year.

59-year-old Judge O’Leary, a former nurse from Kanturk, Co Cork, practiced as a solicitor in Cork after she was appointed in September 1995

Having specialised in family law, civil litigation, conveyancing and probate, Judge O’Leary made her declaration as a District Court judge last May before her appointment to Limerick this week.

At a sitting of the court this Wednesday, Judge O’Leary was welcomed to the district by local practitioners and senior Gardai.
