MOTHER-of-three Cristin Nolan, is the fourth contestant from Limerick to get through to the battle stages of RTE’s ‘The Voice of Ireland’, after performing her favourite song from the hit TV show ‘Nashville’, last Sunday night.

The 33-year-old Limerick woman who sang Hayden Panettiere’s ‘Telescope’ said she is “addicted” to the American musical drama TV series and loved the song.

Less than 30 seconds in to the toe-tapping performance, her choice of song proved successful and the button was pushed by former ‘S Club 7’ singer Rachel Stevens who had been seen bopping along to the song from the first chord.

“I was delighted Rachel turned for me. She has a lot of experience in this industry and I’m looking forward to learning from her,” Cristin told The Limerick Post.

Originally from Carew Park, Southill, Cristin moved to Bodyke in Co. Clare six years ago and plays camoige for her parish but says she still has a “green streak” in her as Limerick is her home away from home.

“I’m told from the most reliable source any woman has in her life, my mother, that I started singing very soon after I could string a sentence together. My great grandfather was a musician, he would play the accordian and I would sing with my mother, father and brother. The family is very musical, its rooted in me.”

As the battle stage of the competition descends on contestants later this month, the talented singer-songwriter said she is both nervous and excited but looks forward to stepping on the stage again.

“I just want to give it everything and hopefully it will go my way. I always give 110percent, that’s how passionate I am about my music, it’s my graft and I love it.”

Speaking about her reasons for applying for the show, Cristin said The Voice of Ireland gives national exposure and the opportunity to get her name and music out there, and she is delighted to be apart of something so big that she can add to the index of her musical journey.

The Voice of Ireland blind auditions continue this Sunday night on RTE1 at 6.30pm where the Limerick audience will have a chance to see another local hopeful, Evan Cotter, perform for the coaches.
