Man arrested over Limerick shooting

GARDAI in Limerick have arrested a man in connection with an alleged shooting on Hyde Road on Saturday afternoon. 

A 22-year-old man was arrested, detained and questioned after an incident occurred where a 42-year-old man was injured when he was shot by a gunman who then fled the scene on a bicycle. 

The injured man was outside a premises in the area when the gunman approached on a bike and discharged a firearm.

Gardai arrested the 22-year-old a short time after the 2pm incident and a firearm and ammunition were also found. 

The suspect is currently being detained at Roxboro Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against The State Act. 

The victim of the shooting was treated for a gunshot wound at the University Hospital Limerick.
