THE team supporting Limerick’s campaign for the designation of European Capital of Culture 2020 is asking us “to engage, discuss and get involved in Limerick’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2020. It needs to reflect the ideas, ambitions and values of its communities, and what Limerick can offer to the common European culture”.

Between June and July 2015, a series of activities, including ‘Kitchen Table Conversations’, Pop-up Culture Shops and community-based workshops will take place where people can feed their ideas, show their support and generally get involved in the bid campaign – #limerick2020

Starting with the launch of the Learning Hub’s Youth Café on Monday June 8 next, Limerick 2020 will be supporting community-based activities across the city and county.

“Limerick has such a vibrant cultural community and programme, especially leading on from the 2014 experience, and we’re not trying to re-invent the wheel,” said Dominique Bouchard, Limerick 2020 curator of participation and engagement. “Rather, we think it’s important to help support groups who are already doing outstanding work and hopefully shine a bit more light on their achievements.”

The first events will take place beginning next week and include activities such as:
