Greyhound – Golden Muzzle at Limerick Greyhound Stadium

LAST Saturday, July 4, saw the Final of “The Golden Muzzle Open 550” at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.   County Clare owner/ trainer Noel Hehir had a night to remember at Limerick on Saturday when Ivy Hill Bart was the emphatic winner of the €4,000 Greyhound & Petworld Golden Muzzle Open 550 final.

Starting one of four joint favourites in a ridiculously tight betting market, Ivy Hill Bart (Makeshift/ Noirs Bluebell) shot out of trap five and always had the race in complete control. He led Jackal Frampton by two lengths at the bend and by halfway had extended that advantage to three lengths.

From here Jackal Frampton closed marginally but at the line Ivy Hill Bart had two lengths in hand of Jackal Frampton in 29.71 while it was another two lengths to Kisses For Cloda in third.

The orange-jacketed Ballymartin Bell was also on the mark in the final of the €2,000 Peter Magnone Memorial A2 final. It was a very similar race to the bigger final with Ballymartin Bell flying out of trap five and leading up by two lengths from Steeple Rd Vic.

That’s how they remained with Sean Roche’s Ballymartin Bell holding off Steeple Rd Vic by three parts of a length in 28.60 with Knockbawn Caviar two and a half lengths third.
