TJ RYAN will remain on as Limerick Senior hurling manager for another 12 months at least, following a decision made by the county board this week.
Ryan, who has two years left on a three year deal, will meet with county board officials this week to undertake a planned review of last season as a whole.
It is as of yet unclear whether Ryan’s entire backroom team will also remain in situ, however details on same are not expected to be finalised until late into the summer.
Speaking after the one point loss to Dublin last weekend, Ryan admitted that he would come in for criticism after what were disappointing league and championship campaigns.
“I will be criticised and that’s the nature of sport and we have to take that on the chin and see what happens in the coming weeks,” Ryan added.
“That’s a majorly disappointed dressing room – bitterly disappointed. It’s been a disappointing year and to look back at it I would be disappointed and the players are disappointed.
“It’s hard to put a finger on it because what they did for the last number of months was put their lives on hold for this and trained really, really hard,” the Garryspillane club man continued.
Speaking at the county board meeting this week, Limerick chairmain Oliver Mann added, “The clubs gave TJ a three-year term at the end of last year with a review after the first and second 12 months.
“That is what will take place now, a review. Saturday was a most disappointing night for all involved. It has been a disappointing year, but we are a resilient bunch here in Limerick. We will turn our attentions to 2016 now and focus on getting back to where we were towards the end of 2014.”
