The company is blaming significant trading losses in recent years for the closure. Staff were this week given two weeks notice of redundancy and the shop will close for good on August 23. The second Limerick Pamela Scott outlet in the Crescent Shopping Centre is not affected by the announcement. and will continue to trade as normal while the Bedford Row outlet holds a closing down sale. The branch is in a prime retail spot in the city, on the pedestrianised Bedford Row and Mayor, Jerry O’Dea described the news as “disappointing”.
