LIMERICK City and County Council has published its intention to redevelop a series of buildings in Newcastle West, County Limerick, to make way for a mixed-use community and commercial development in the heart of the county town.

According to a Part 8 planning notice, the Council has proposed the works for 112, 113, and 114 Maiden Street in Newcastle West.

The works would involve a change of use of the existing buildings from commercial and residential to a multi-functional community, arts, and commercial use.

The notice outlines the demolition of existing rear extensions of the buildings, along with the redevelopment of the three units to “provide a commercial space and community space at ground floor level and flexible community and multi-purpose rooms at first and second floor levels”.
