Camogie – Joe Quaid to leave Limerick Camogie

Screen shot 2015-08-17 at 12.09.14LIMERICK camogie manager Joe Quaid has announced that he will not seek re-election for the coming season. The former Limerick hurling goalkeeper has been at the helm for Limerick’s most successful era on the pitch, winning an All Ireland intermediate championship, restoring the county to the Senior Grade in the process. See below, the Limerick Camogie Association press release.

“Limerick Camogie regret to announce that Joe Quaid has informed us that will not be seeking reappointment to the position of Limerick Senior Camogie Team Manager for the 2016 season.

Limerick County Board would like to thank Joe for his time and commitment to Limerick Camogie over the past three years. He did trojan work and brought great success to Limerick Camogie. We wish him every happiness and good fortune for the future  and similar success in whatever role he may take on.

Joe took over management of the county team at a low point for Limerick Camogie and in his first season in charge secured a Division Two League title and a place in the All-Ireland Intermediate Final. The following year the team went one better securing the title at the second time of asking. 2014 also saw Limerick secure Minor, Junior A and Division 4 League titles and Joe worked closely with those management teams to ensure Limerick Camogie as a whole was moving in a positive direction. His efforts in 2014 also saw him recognised as Manager of the Year. 2015 saw Limerick get to the semi-finals of the League and strong performances in what was a very tough draw in the Senior Championship means Joe leaves Limerick Camogie in a very strong state.

Limerick County Board will now commence the process of looking for Joe’s successor and with the squad and structures now in place look forward to building on the work done by Joe and his team.”

Statement from Joe Quaid

“A chara,
It’s with sadness that i am informing you that I won’t be seeking reelection as Limerick senior camogie manager for 2016. I would like to thank all members of the board over the last 3 years for their help and support. It has been a fantastic journey and I’d like to think that Limerick Camogie is in a far better place now than when I took over the role. To all the clubs and supporters within the county I’d like to say a big thank you. Without the support of the clubs the successes we achieved would not have been possible.  I’d also like to thank all the sponsors who gave their money and facilities and support as without this the setup could and would not have been as professional. Finally the last thank you goes to the members of my management teams and their families for their support. Without the excellent dynamic created by this amazing group of people Limerick Camogie wouldn’t be in the healthy state it is now. And to the girls, it has been a privilege to manage such a bunch of incredible human beings. They were a pleasure to work with and their commitment and dedication is the benchmark which Limerick Camogie should never fall below again.”
