A WOMAN who fell in to the Old Canal near Limerick city Centre has been rescued from the water during an emergency operation this Friday night.
Shortly after 10:30 this Friday night, an emergency call was received to the control Centre at Limerick city fire and rescue with reports that a woman had fallen into the old canal on Clare street.
Three units were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival a young woman was seen in the water.
Firefighters wearing specialist swift water rescue equipment entered the water and removed the woman from the water.
She was handed over to a waiting ambulance where she was treated by emergency paramedics.
Once the woman was treated and the area assessed, all emergency services and responders including LMSR Limerick Marine Search and Rescue were stood down and returned to bases.
