A MAJOR jobs announcement for Limerick City centre is expected by the Summer with Finance Minister Michael Noonan confirming that the Hanging Gardens site on Henry Street has been handed over to the local authority with a view to securing a suitable tenant in the coming months.
Minister Noonan made his remarks as he opened the Uber centre of excellence at the junction of Catherine Street and Thomas Street this Monday.
He said he had “strong confidence” that the IDA or Enterprise Ireland “wouldn’t have any great difficulty in finding a tenant”.
It is expected that the redeveloped site would yield up to 300 new jobs for the city centre.
Declining to make any further comment due to commercial sensitivities, Minister Noonan said that a “solid announcement” could be expected in the coming months.
“My contacts in the IDA say that as soon as the site is developed, they do not see a lot of difficulty in getting a suitable tenant”, he added.
