STEVEN Sharpe, best known for his work fronting Led Zeppelin tribute show Whole Lotta Zepp, will bring a new full-band production to Dolans this Friday May 8, performing Jeff Buckley’s landmark 1994 debut album Grace in its entirety.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest albums ever recorded, Grace is defined by its soaring vocal performances, sweeping arrangements and deeply poetic lyricism.
More than thirty years after its release, Buckley’s only full-length studio album continues to resonate with successive generations of musicians and music lovers alike.
Its reputation has only grown with time, drawing praise from some of rock’s most distinguished voices.
Jimmy Page once described it as close to being his favourite album of the decade, while Robert Plant called it the finest record of the 1990s.
For Sharpe, the project carries a significance that goes beyond artistic ambition.
“Nina Simone and Robert Plant inspired me to sing,” he says. “They also inspired Jeff Buckley’s singing style, so this feels only natural. This album has always been close to my heart. Approaching it with honesty and respect is something I take seriously.”
Having toured across Europe and performed on some of Ireland’s largest stages, Sharpe has built a reputation for dynamic, high-impact performances that draw on considerable vocal power and emotional range — qualities that make him particularly well suited to Buckley’s technically demanding catalogue.
The show will include full live performances of celebrated tracks including Hallelujah, Grace, So Real, Last Goodbye and Lover, You Should’ve Come Over, alongside further selections from Buckley’s repertoire.
