LIMERICK venue Dolan’s Warehouse recieved a Hot Press Magazine commendation award at the IMRO Live Music Venue of the Year Awards 2015 held in Dublin on Tuesday February 16. The Hot Press People’s Choice Award for Live Venue went to Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. Hot Press Editor Niall Stokes also gave special commendations to Dolans and Coughlans (Cork).

After the event Neil Dolan posted: “Thanks to all who voted and to everybody that attended the shows. A big thanks to all the acts that played across the venues. The level of talent in this country grows every year.”

Niall Stokes commented: “There is a fantastic energy in Irish music at the moment. It is really important that these enormously talented emerging artists are nurtured and developed. And great live venues, festivals and events are hugely important  to that process. Which is why everyone in Hot Press attaches such importance to the Live Music Venue Awards – and why it is a privilege to present awards tonight to Coughlan’s in Cork, Dolan’s in Limerick and the overall winner of the Hot Press Readers’ Venue of the Year, the Olympia Theatre.”

Dolan’s won  IMRO National Live Music Venue of the Year for 2014 and this year the top award went to The Set Theatre, Kilkenny. Other winners in the regional categories include: Munster – Levi’s, Ballydehob; Connacht – Monroes, Galway; Dublin –  Whelans, Wexford St; Rest of Leinster – The Spirit Store, Dundalk; Ulster – Allingham Arms Hotel, Bundoran.
