GARDAÍ in Limerick are investigating a “distraction” type theft after a woman was targeted by thieves operating a scam near an ATM machine.

Shortly after 5.30pm last Tuesday, the victim was distracted by a man as she was about to retrieve her card from the ATM machine and he managed to swap it with a similar card.

A number of unlawful transactions were then carried out using the victim’s stolen card.

This report follows a number of similar incidents last November when “distraction thefts” were carried out at ATM machines in the city.

Meantime, Gardaí in Newcastle West are continuing their investigations into the theft of horseboxes from farmyards at Coolnoran, Rathkeale and Parkmore, Shanagolden over the past two weekends.

Anyone with information on either or both incidents should contact the Gardaí on 069 20650 or 1800 666 111.
