ASKEATON town has a double thrill to offer in celebrating St Pat’s festival: an evening cinema show and next, related art works inspired by folklore and ethnography threading through the town. The context is international and interactive.

Arrive at Cagney’s Bar at 9pm this Wednesday 16 “to experience an intimate screening of aiPotu’s films, accompanied by live musical entertainment”. Anticipate a series of silent shorts with their creators playing a live soundscape on keyboard.

This open invitation is issued by curator Michele Horrigan of the annual Askeaton Contemporary Arts fortnight.

aiPotu: who or what is this foreign concept? This is collaborative work, or a series of works, by Norwegian artists Anders Kjellesvik and Andreas Siqueland, no strangers to west Limerick. Their sculptures and performances often involve absurd and surreal interventions into everyday life.

Thursday March 17 from 2pm will see Potatoman and Death, characters devised by aiPotu, play out an epic drama weaving into the local parade. More in Arts page published St Patrick’s Day.
