MOYA Brennan of Clannad headlines a unique concert taking place in Dolan’s Warehouse this Saturday April 2, International Autism Day. It’s a fundraiser for the Limerick based Dóchas, the organisation that helps children and young adults with autism, and their families.

Having sold 15million albums with her family band, whom Enya joined for a while, Moya has gone on to create eight albums of her own. Her concerts are known for their musicality, intimacy and visual spectrum.

For the Limerick gig in Dolan’s  Warehouse she is joined by three singers: her daughter Aisling Jarvis, Limerick’s Damien Varley and Ruth Curtin.

Live music is from the harp of Cormac deBarra, longtime accompanist to Moya and a recording musician/ songwriter in his own right. His band Barcó is with his brothers. He and Moya Brennan have two albums together so far, 2011’s ‘Voices & Harps’ and the more recent ‘Affinity’.

Cormac has worked in various genres not typical for the Irish harp, and collaborated with artists as diverse as Hazel O’Connor and Julie Feeney.

“The connection with Moya was made through a great friend of hers, Nóirín Horrigan who is a Limerick woman and a great friend to us in Dóchas,” confirms Pamela Downs, administrator. “Moya came to visit us and had a tour through the building.

“We run social clubs for children aged from five years up and try to work with all ages. We are putting a sensory room in place here in Parnell Street, it’s our next project and fundraising will go towards that”.

So for a modest €20 we can expect a night of fabulous song, harmonies and originality.

All the artists are giving their services free and there’s a raffle on the night to boost funds. Tickets are from Ticketmaster, Dolans.ie and Dóchas at 14 Parnell Street, CHY13037.
