VILLIERS School on the North Circular Road has unveiled its new IHF (International Hockey Federation) certified hockey pitch.
This addition represents a major investment in sport by the school.
This project was funded partly through sports capital grant funding, fundraising through the parent-teacher association, and generous donations from members of the school community.
Sports Minister Patrick O’Donovan performed the official opening.
Head of School Jill Storey said: “This new hockey pitch represents a significant step forward for our school community. Sport plays a vital role in the holistic development of our students, teaching teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Beyond the school community, the pitch enhances Villiers School’s ability to host high-quality fixtures and tournaments. It opens the door to wider future collaboration with clubs, schools, and governing bodies, supporting the growth of hockey locally and nationally.”
The pitch is also home to Limerick Hockey Club.
