CALLBACK Theatre is known for staging original works, perhaps ‘Fred & Alice’, ‘Set in Stone’ and ‘Men Without Souls’ best known.

They are back at Friars’ Gate in Kilmallock, where Callback’s John Sheehy has been writer in residence, with two dramas on Thursday May 19.

Over 50 minutes we see these short plays from 8pm on. ‘Arsehammers’: a child is sure that their grandfather’s strange disappearances reveal supernatural powers.

Its pair is ‘Bonfire Night’: a devoted daughter has a mother whose hip operation sets off a chain of events that lead her to become the world’s most unlikely assassin.

“The two plays have characters who are perfectly ordinary and yet completely extraordinary and there is a wicked sense of humour underlying everything,” observes Caoimhe Reidy, theatre manager. www.friarsgate.ie
