DOONBEG in Clare celebrates today its 17th International Jazz Festival, taking place from June 3 to 6 over four fast moving days.

The festival will feature nine bands from Germany, U.K and Ireland in a jammy programme of 26 performances, as well as a musical fun day on Saturday 4th for tots to teens.

“Best of all, it’s all free,” observes Philippa Seigrist, festival founder with her husband Peter of reggae/ jazz band Skazz. ”This year we are delighted to welcome JAZZONANZ featuring Helmut ‘Daisy’ Becker, from Trier, Germany, JAZZ MAIN from Edinburgh, The Underscore Orkestra from Portland, Oregan as well as the Joan Talbot & Gerry Bradley Quartet, East Coast Jazz Band, The Charms, Downtown Jazz Band, Jazz Lite and Doonbeg’s own Skazz.

“From Swing to Dixie, Ska to Jazz, Latin to Blues, there is something for everyone”.

Winding down on bank holiday Monday 6, look forward to a farewell lunchtime session at Madigan’s featuring the Downtown Jazz Band.
